Updating an interior
Geometric forms, modern folk art, and a mix of contemporary and vintage pieces create an eclectic and bold interior. Bright white, strong blues and mossy greens connect the rooms of this Manhattan apartment. Meanwhile, texture and pattern add interest and warmth to this contemporary urban interior.
While a location change from SoHo to Manhattan's East Village, provided an airer apartment with a more contemporary feel, many of the decorative accents remain. However, paired with the bold new fruniture condusive to the larger space these accents take on a fresh look.

Imbuing a space with the personality of its owner
With a penchant for mid-century modern furniture, a collection of modern art and a British and Columbian background, a diverse range of interest and influences is showcased in this advertising executive’s home.
Though a collection of contemporary art guides the recently built space in eclectic Hoxton, the client prefered a warmer environment than one reminiscent of modern art galleries. A textured wallpaper and wood tones create a soothing backdrop where teal blue and orange accents combine with Danish modern furniture; while the furniture, lighting and accessories cross time and space to provide a glimpse into the owner's life. The former live-work space was adapted to better suit the occupant by erecting a partial wall in the oversized bedroom and creating a media nook.

Mathematical inspiration for an investment firm
A New York quantitative research firm requested an Asian inspired interior for their office. Warm, tactile materials such as walnut, mica, shell, iron, leather, copper, brass and horn that reference traditional Asian design principles are incorporated into the furniture and interior design. For example, custom doors draw inspiration from traditional Chinese lattice work and a large abacus gate hints at the firms focus on mathematic models.
The majority of the hard furnishings were custom designed for the space and then produced by craftsmen located across the country. This unique office combines tradition and contemporary with Eastern and Western elements to create an inviting interior not only welcomed by clients, but to also provide a calm back drop for employees.

Letting the animals in
This quirky residential interior mixes textures, time periods and themes to provide a causal yet sophisticated space in New York’s NoLita. Throughout the space shades of purple and blue tint grey walls while rich burgundy, indigo and forest green combine with wood and metal tones to add warmth. A light pendant that references crochet contrasts the metal tables and accents in the space adding a softness and visual tactility. Silver, gold and glass accents dispersed throughout the living room provide reflection and bounce light while the mixture of photographs, paintings and decorative objects add interest and personality to the space.
The vignettes created by the arrangement of object are small narratives, a collection of items that explore a particular time, place or hobby. Furthermore, sculptures of animals scattered amongst the rooms add a touch nature and whimsy to the urban interior

From warehouse to brokerage house
A completely raw warehouse in New York City’s NoHo area needed to be turned into an appropriate space for a brokerage office. Features like the exposed brick walls were maintained while newly designed architectural elements were created to be sympathetic to what remained of the existing structure.
Glass partitions, doors and light fixtures embraced an updated and visually cleaner industrial aesthetic. The proportions of these elements in addition to the limited color pallete of soft blue green greys and navy communicated order, calm and stability. Custom built desk provided ample work space while partial walls added to privacy amongst different departments in the open plan space. The kitchen, painted a rich ink hue with a custom tile backsplash from Ann Saks, serves as a gathering place and social area and is therefore distinct from the more muted palette in the workspaces.

Getting the party started
Created over the span of several years, these invitations to events in New York hosted by a private company, draw inspiration from a variety of sources. They allow experimentation in the graphic treatment of different moods and time periods that coordinated with the event's theme. In addition, they also provided the opportunity to explore different methods of realization. As such, these projects prove worthwhile experiments that informed larger graphic design projects.
Contemporary programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator were used in additional to more traditional practices such as lino cutting. Whether inspiration came from dinnerware, vintage postcards or film each invitation conveys a distinct atmosphere generating excitement for the planned affair.
